Interior Painting for Auburn Homes
Auburn has genuinely old housing stock. Around Old Town and the streets running off it there are homes that predate most of what we work on anywhere else in the county, and they come with the things old houses come with: plaster in places, layers of paint built up on the trim until the detail has gone soft, doors and frames that have moved with the ground over a century, and the occasional surprise once you start sanding.
Work like that cannot be quoted the way a newer house is quoted. The honest answer is that preparation is most of the job and it varies room to room. We fill and sand, de-gloss old enamel so a new coat will actually bond to it, prime anything that would otherwise bleed through, and take care around trim detail that is worth keeping rather than filling flat.
Newer homes up in the foothill subdivisions are a different job entirely and usually a simpler one. Our interior painting work covers both — walls, ceilings, trim, doors, and cabinets.

A lot of Auburn exteriors are real wood — siding, decorative trim, porch posts and railings — and wood is far less forgiving than stucco. Once a finish starts lifting, painting over it just puts a new coat on top of a failing one, and it comes away again within a season or two. The work is in scraping back to something sound, sanding the edges so the repair does not telegraph through, and spot-priming bare timber before any topcoat.
