What Interior Painting Covers

Interior work runs from a single room to a whole house, and it is rarely just the walls. Ceilings, trim, baseboards, door casings, the doors themselves, stairwells, and cabinets all take different products and different techniques, and the trim is usually what decides whether a finished room looks properly done or merely repainted.

We paint occupied homes as well as empty ones. In an occupied house that means working room by room so you keep somewhere to live, covering floors and furniture before anything starts, and cleaning up at the end of each day rather than at the end of the job.

Preparation Is Most of the Job

Almost every interior paint job that fails, fails because of what happened before the paint went on. New paint will not bond to a glossy old enamel unless it is de-glossed first. A patch that was not sanded flush will show through under any sheen. Water stains and marker bleed through anything that is not primed. None of that is visible in a photograph of the finished room, which is exactly why it gets skipped.

Our painters fill and sand, spot-prime what needs priming, mask edges properly instead of relying on tape alone to make a straight line, and cut in by hand where the wall meets the ceiling. High and vaulted ceilings get staged so they can be reached safely and the cut line stays straight the whole way along.

Cabinets Are a Separate Job

Repainting kitchen or bathroom cabinets is not the same work as painting a room and should not be priced as though it were. Cabinet doors need degreasing, sanding, and a bonding primer before anything else, and they need somewhere to lie flat while each coat cures. Rushed cabinets stay tacky, chip at the edges within months, and show every brush mark.

Done properly it is one of the biggest visual changes available in a kitchen without replacing anything, and it costs a fraction of new doors. It also takes longer than most people expect, and we would rather say so up front.
